‘Keep Pulling Me In’ is the new release from Lucy Gooch. It’s a long, exploratory track that sees the artist retain the importance of her impressive, semi-improvised vocal, while bringing more folk influences and acoustic instruments into her work. The work is set above a bed of electronics, which ebb and flow with shifting energy as its ambience unfolds. She explains that the track “was inspired by the painting Old Maids by Leonora Carrington. The surreal use of hallways doors and windows in her work is freeing and also unsettling. I was inspired by the possibilities of the world suggested, and so one evening I layered arpeggiators on the prophet, improvised the synth chords and then looped a stream of consciousness with words half formed.” Lucy Gooch’s debut album, Desert Window, is out on June 6th, 2025, via Fire Records. -Dan Peeke
